Cross of Christ W/ELCA

Mission Statement:

“As a community of women created in the image of God, called to discipleship in Jesus Christ, and empowered by the Holy Spirit, we commit ourselves to grow in faith, affirm our gifts, support one another in our callings, engage in ministry and action, promote healing and wholeness in the church, the society and the world.”

Who Are the Women of the ELCA?

All confirmed women of Cross of Christ Lutheran Church are participants of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America. Women of Cross of Christ ELCA are a part of the Southeastern Minnesota Synod and a part of the Root rive Conference. Each individual voluntarily becomes involved in the program of activities offered by our local W/ELCA.

We have 3 circles, which hold monthly meetings at a time and place decided on by each individual circle. The circles meet for Bible Study and Christian fellowship. We also have nine serving groups. The serving groups are called on a rotating basis to serve at various church functions such as funerals, weddings, anniversaries and the like.

2014 W/ELCA Schedule of Events

As we turn the calendar to August, all the “back to school” sales are on.  Our W/ELCA will be packing school kits for Lutheran World Relief this fall.  Now is an ideal time to pick up the  school supply bargains!  You may leave them in the quilt room.

Due to the building construction, Do Days will be cancelled for August.  If anyone wants to cut 10 ˝ or 12 ˝ squares from cotton or flannel, it would be very much appreciated.  Our Do Days will be scheduled later.

Our 4th annual July ice cream social at the Stone Church was a huge success.  It was the largest attendance and we nearly sold out on pies.  Once again a BIG thank you to Jake, Glen, Lyn, and Sidney Olson for the delightful music. Their talent and enthusiasm is remarkable.  Also thank you to the serving groups and a special thank you to Joel and Bev Twaiten for donating the ice cream.

Another July activity was serving ice cream floats for the Lawn Chair Summer Concerts July 2nd and 9th  at the Trailhead Park.  It was a new experience and proved to be a fun time.  Thank you to all that helped in any way.

Thank you to Pastor Douglas for his ministry and time spent here the past few weeks.  May we continue the UP-IN-OUT in our lives to grow in our faith.  God’s Blessings to you, your family and your ministry.

Valentine Brunch

February 8, 2014

About 100 ladies attended the annual Valentine Brunch at Cross of Christ. Red was the dominant color - jackets, sweaters, roses, etc. Cross of Christ men prepared and served the brunch. Kathy Little (guest speaker) did an excellent job of entertaining with her humorous explanation of love. Bree Jore and Lily Carlson completed the program with their beautiful voices.
