Cross of Christ W/ELCA

Mission Statement:

“As a community of women created in the image of God, called to discipleship in Jesus Christ, and empowered by the Holy Spirit, we commit ourselves to grow in faith, affirm our gifts, support one another in our callings, engage in ministry and action, promote healing and wholeness in the church, the society and the world.”

Who Are the Women of the ELCA?

All confirmed women of Cross of Christ Lutheran Church are participants of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America. Women of Cross of Christ ELCA are a part of the Southeastern Minnesota Synod and a part of the Root rive Conference. Each individual voluntarily becomes involved in the program of activities offered by our local W/ELCA.

We have 3 circles, which hold monthly meetings at a time and place decided on by each individual circle. The circles meet for Bible Study and Christian fellowship. We also have nine serving groups. The serving groups are called on a rotating basis to serve at various church functions such as funerals, weddings, anniversaries and the like.

Watch for 2015 Schedule of Events

W/ELCA NEWS - JANUARY 2015

A blessed New Year to all!  This is my first article as the new WELCA president.  I am excited to begin this new adventure!  We are so grateful for the leadership of our outgoing president Ruth Ann Stensgard over the past year, and to our outgoing treasurer, Dorothy Bergsgaard, who held this important position for 13 years!  Thank you for your service to our group.  Thanks also to all the women who are continuing in past positions or have been newly recruited for an office.  Your willingness to serve the congregation and beyond are greatly appreciated.

Our December meeting was our Christmas party.  We had a Norwegian theme, with tasty treats from the serving group and a wonderful program by Elsie Olson detailing Wayne and Elsie’s trip to Norway to observe the 200th anniversary of the Norwegian Constitution.  We all enjoyed the history and beautiful scenery depicted.  Thanks to all who made this a success; we had a great turnout.

For any of our church women who are curious about WELCA, we would love to have you come to any of our upcoming meetings, Do-Days, or special events.  The annual WELCA booklet will be mailed soon with more information, and the church bulletin and Parish Visitor will also list events.  Please come join us!
