Cross of Christ W/ELCA

Mission Statement:

“As a community of women created in the image of God, called to discipleship in Jesus Christ, and empowered by the Holy Spirit, we commit ourselves to grow in faith, affirm our gifts, support one another in our callings, engage in ministry and action, promote healing and wholeness in the church, the society and the world.”

Who Are the Women of the ELCA?

All confirmed women of Cross of Christ Lutheran Church are participants of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America. Women of Cross of Christ ELCA are a part of the Southeastern Minnesota Synod and a part of the Root rive Conference. Each individual voluntarily becomes involved in the program of activities offered by our local W/ELCA.

We have 3 circles, which hold monthly meetings at a time and place decided on by each individual circle. The circles meet for Bible Study and Christian fellowship. We also have nine serving groups. The serving groups are called on a rotating basis to serve at various church functions such as funerals, weddings, anniversaries and the like.

2014 W/ELCA Schedule of Events

W/ELCA NEWS - December 2014

It’s hard to believe the year has gone so quickly and we are into our December schedules.

We want to thank everyone that had a part in the bazaar.   The craft club worked diligently on projects plus they welcomed donations of craft articles also.  Thanks to the craft club chair, Edie Peterson, and its members for their dedicated work and keeping the tradition going.  We always have a nice assortment of goodies for our bake sale, so it was a good way to stock up on some Christmas baking already prepared for us!  Thank you to Sandy Fishel and Karen Martin for organizing that.  Thank you to the serving group that prepared and served a delicious lunch.  Great food and fellowship!

Once again we are going to participate in the Care & Share” program of Houston County.  We will have name tags on our Christmas tree in the fellowship hall.  Each tag will have a gift item listed, age of the child and boy or girl listed.  You may take a tag, buy a gift as tag specifies and place it under the tree with the tag & unwrapped.

Additional new toys may be donated and placed under the tree as well.  The gifts will be picked up by the “Care & Share” team and distributed to the children in time for Christmas.  This is a wonderful program in helping others at Christmas time.

Upcoming events:

Dec. 4 – Allocations Meeting for officers-  1:00 p.m. @ Ruth Ann’s home.

Dec. 7 – Cookie Walk after Sunday service

Dec. 12- WELCA Christmas program & installation of officers - 2 p.m.    Elsie & Wayne Olson will share their recent Norway trip.  We encourage the men to join us.
